After 4 years living here, I have a taste for the city, and many of the activities that go on.  From White Sox to Cubs to Bears to Bulls, the city offers a sport for everyone.  Activities ranging from shopping on the Magnificent Mile to seeing Shedd Aquarium or the Art Institute, there are leisure activities beyond compare.  If nightlife is your gig, the city can’t be beat.  Either head out to the New World Theatre for your favorite stars, or stop by the local bar for a local band that has caught your ear.

Shows, plays, movies, music, and of course the distinctive culinary delights cover some of the features that 4 million people enjoy on a regular basis.

Hopefully you find something that catches your eye, and if you aren’t from the city, maybe your next vacation will be to see our great city.  Just be sure to bring lots of warm clothes if you want to see the city in February.

While my view may at times be biased, I’ve worked with Windows for 10 years and Linux for 8, so have a very balanced view of both.  Most of my time is spent working with Windows NT for work, however, my primary server at home is Linux (I mostly use WIndows 98 however since I’m a serious gamer.

You can find information on getting started, different distributions (companites that release full linux packages), applications, and a bit about the path Linux has taken from it’s start in a college dorm room to the multi-million dollar system that it is today.

You will also learn that while Linux is gaining more features and applications on a daily basis, it still may not be right for you.  With a little more information, you can decide if it’s worth the time and effort, or if it may be something that you wait another 2 or 3 generations for.

This is by far the most ambitious part of my site, so will take the longest, and may possibly be the last thing I get to.  However, you can offer feedback on what you want out of this site so that it can be everything you are hoping for.

My current plans are to allow people to build their own profiles, allow for both browsing and searching of all users, and to eventually build a questionaire that uses rules to match up those people who have similar interests and are looking for specific qualities.

I have no intentions of changing any of these features into a subscription based system, however, as time goes by, I may add “advanced” features with a subscription fee (which I will keep modest).  Don’t let that scare you off though.  All the features listed above will remain free, regardless.  I would only charge a fee for extras that tax my resources, such as storing audio and video (not still pictures), or an advanced e-mail notification system (hey, you don’t have to pay if you’re willing to stop by here every once in a while ).

The Internet is filled with content and people.  Both of which can be either good or bad.  Hopefully after browsing through a few topics, the sheer size of the internet and the interactions with all it’s members will be a bit less intimidating.

If you’re someone who has been around for a while, I hope to offer possibly one or two tidbits of information that you never thought of, or simply hadn’t had the initiative to find before.  I tried to list the uses on the navigational bar in the order that most Internet users find they learn things.  Hopefully walking through it from top to bottom will give you what you need to feel comfortable and confident with everything there is out there on the ‘net.

Notice that IRC is kept separate.  This area is a special one, as it’s brought me my 15 minutes of fame online, and I hope that this entire site may bless me with another 15 (if I’m lucky, I’ll get a full hour of fame before my final sign off.

As you peruse the site, please take note of areas that you would like to see built up, interactive content you would like to see added, new features, comments, criticisms, and other input you might find.
